\"Georgia O\'Keeffe in New Mexico: Architecture, Katsinam and the Land\" - May 17 - September 11, 2013

This beautiful exhibition tells the little-known story of how the New Mexico landscape, and O\'Keeffe\'s introduction to Hispanic and Indigenous art and architecture, inspired a significant shift in her painting. In addition to O\'Keeffe\'s iconic landscapes, it includes newly discovered paintings, as well as work by Hopi artists Ramona Sakiestewa and Dan Namingha. Enjoy viewing Shiprock Santa Fe\'s interpretation of this landmark exhibition.

Fresh off of his landmark show at MOCNA, Plains Cree artist Jeff Kahm's Vernacular Series is now available for sale exclusively through Shiprock Santa Fe. His perspective on tribal symbolism results in a thoroughly modern body of work that is a study of both color and geometry. (more pieces available on our website, $850 each)

We are pleased to present new works by Jemez Pueblo artist Glenda Loretto. Her works are the perfect compliment to the gallery, her innovative style brings a fresh perspective to traditional jewelry designs. (more pieces available on our website)

Navajo Silversmiths adapted the naja from the Spanish who brought the Moorish design to the New World in the 1600\'s. The naja is often featured on Navajo squash blossom necklaces and is a ubiquitous symbol associated with Southwest jewelry design. The meaning behind the naja transcends history for the Navajo and Pueblo artisans and has become a symbol of their celebrations, ceremonies and culture.

Have you been wondering what the measurements for the bracelets on our website mean? Do you know what your wrist size is?

Simply take a soft measuring tape and measure the circumference of your wrist between the wrist bone and the hand. Most women will average 6"-7", most men average 7"-8". We use the same soft tape to measure the interior length of our bracelets, then add the opening size which equals the total circumference of the bracelet. Please keep in mind, some bracelets can be opened and resized, and some bracelets can be closed in, or even shaved down by the artist or one of our expert jewelers if need be. We also try to measure the width of a cuff for you to get a good idea of scale. We hope this helpful guide will help you pick the perfect sized bracelet for your collection from our website!

Shiprock does it again! We are mixing Navajo textiles with modern furnishings and featuring twill saddle blankets, the most notoriously difficult of all weavings to create. Twill techniques were used in the Classic Era for wearing blankets, then used for utilitarian weavings such as saddle blankets as the 20th Century began. The loom is the most difficult to work with and the warps can easily get confused. The twill weave has a thicker loft because the textile is weft-faced but the wefts pass over more than one warp at a time and are staggered, giving the appearance of a diagonal weave. It is this thickness that gave historic twill weavings functionality, though their subtle elegant patterns are worthy of being art showpieces.

Rick Dillingham brought recognition to thousands of Native American potters through his extensive scholarship work. Simultaneously he was experimenting with modern techniques as a noted American ceramicist. We have three unique vessels by Mr. Dillingham currently available through our gallery.

Paul Pletka is one of the nation's most notable artists, who also enjoys stopping into our space from time to time. We are pleased to present a small collection of his earlier works for sale on our website.

The gallery was fortunate to acquire a large jewelry collection including many masters of the 20th century. Of note was a group of works by Zuni jeweler Frank Vacit. His elegant fleur de lis hallmark is mirrored in the fine inlay work in each of his designs.
