Gerald Nailor (1917-1952) was born in Pinedale, New Mexico and is an accomplished Navajo artist. Nailor studied in Santa Fe, New Mexico with Dorothy Dunn and later with famed Swedish muralist Olaf Nordemark. His paintings were inspired by nature, Navajo myth and traditional American Indian motifs. He died tragically young at 35 trying to intervene in a domestic dispute. In his lifetime he worked closely with Allan Houser as they shared a studio in Santa Fe.
His work is shown nationwide to great critical acclaim.
